Miguel Veloso signs for Dynamo Kiev
Portugal midfielder Miguel Veloso has signed for Dynamo Kiev on a four year contract for an undisclosed fee, the Ukrainian club have confirmed.
Veloso started all five of Portugal’s games at Euro 2012 and joins the Ukrainan high league runners up, after two seasons in Serie A at Genoa. Veloso started his career at Sporting Lisbon where he played alongside Portugal team mate Joao Moutinho.
The general feeling on Twitter is that Veloso hasn’t fulfilled his undoubted potential, and that the defensive midfielder should be one of the shining lights of a top team in a top european league not plying his trade in Ukraine.
Football fan Tom (@Fourfourtom) : ‘Miguel Veloso has signed for Dynamo Kiev after a poor spell with Genoa. Such a shame - he was unbelievably promising as a youngster.’
Danny Carter (@FormidableRed): ‘Miguel Veloso joins Dynamo Kiev? Shame.’
Tom Kundert (@Portugoaldotnet):’ Miguel Veloso joins Dinamo Kiev. This one had been rumoured for a while but must admit I'm surprised to see it happen.’
Ben Shave (@Benshave): ‘In other news, Miguel Veloso enjoyed spending part of June in Ukraine so much that he's joined Dynamo Kiev. Genoa wasn't working, boa sorte.’
The signing of the midfielder shows Dynamo Kiev’s intent for the coming season, having already signed Niko Kranjcar from Tottenham. Dynamo have finished runners up arch rivals Shakhtar Donetsk in the league now for the past three seasons.
