Manchester City and Chelsea told to forget about signing Cavani
Manchester City and Chelsea have been told that Napoli star Edinson Cavani will not be leaving the Naples club this summer.
The striker has attracted attention from the English giants with rumours of bids worth £30 million being considered after he scored 66 goals in 94 Serie A appearances. But Napoli sporting director Riccardo Bigon has stressed that the 25-year-old will not be leaving Italy, meaning the champions of England and Europe will both have to turn their attentions elsewhere.
"I can confirm that Cavani is not for sale at any price,” Bigon said to The Sun.
"The president has made it clear to everybody how he feels about a transfer and Edi, too, has been very clear about his intention to stay at Napoli.
"We don't have any meetings scheduled to discuss his future. There's no need to talk about it. We have a very close relation with Edinson."
Cavani has also been linked with a move to Italian champions Juventus in the last few days with rumours of a large bid flying around: “Another day another silly Cavani rumour. By my maths todays offer totals 60m + wages. Okaaaaaaaay #Fantacalcio” tweeted Italian football journalist Adam Digby.
Liverpool have also been linked with the Uruguayan striker but if what is coming out of Naples is true it is unlikely that Cavani will be leaving for any new destination this summer.
