The England U18 international is considered to be one of the rising stars of English football. A powerful forward, he scored a stunning goal to help Crewe in the Play Offs.

Sir Alex Ferguson commented, "He is an exceptional talent and has been schooled well at Crewe."

Powell's signed on a four year deal for an undisclosed fee.
