IT'S REALLY EXCITING TIMES AT CHELSEA!
There is an argument that in certain periods of the last few seasons, Chelsea have done exactly that recording big wins with attacking flair. Even last season against Bolton away, Napoli and Spurs we have done the same but as we all know, the opinion of us changed with our performances against Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Now being Chelsea fans, we all knew what we were up against and understood the way we had to play to get the job done, we may not have liked it but accepted it and took enormous pride in our lads. No one can ever take away the fact that we are now European Champions.
So to this season and the major changes that have taken place at Chelsea albeit somewhat played down.
Didier Drogba who has been part of the heartbeat of our Chelsea side has now gone and with that, his power and strength up top will be missing. In Fernando Torres, Chelsea will be forced to play a different way.
With Salomon Kalou and Jose Bosingwa leaving, in addition to Nicolas Anelka during last season, Chelsea are looking to freshen things up and to play a new brand of attacking football.
With the purchase of Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and possibly Oscar added to the fact we have Juan Mata here, it's an indication of the attacking flair and intent to take Chelsea to a whole new level this term.
You think of English football and you think of the standard rigid formations of old, of players hardly deviating from their positions all with a job to do for their manager. Nowadays with the style of Barcelona, everything has changed.
That's the thing with football, it moves forward and changes so often. The standard 4-4-2 for the most part these days is a thing of the past as the pressure to deliver results has increased even more so with the riches on offer in the Premier League.
Barcelona's style will never be fully emulated but it seems that Roman Abramovich and Roberto Di Matteo are determined to give it a crack here next season and it's a really exciting time for us as Chelsea fans.
I read a report basically stating that Chelsea have been known as a tall, strong side in the past and will now be replaced by the tiny brigade with Marin, Hazard and Juan Mata all just about able to make it on fun fair rides!!.
It's my own opinion that Chelsea will remain rigid at the back and with the two holding midfielders sitting in front of them in RDM's 4-2-3-1 formation, but after that I believe that the front four will be given free reign to create and craft out chances for each other and play endless footballs through to Torres week in, week out.
If we look at the potential three playing in behind Fernando Torres that we HAVE signed already it's an interesting prospect. Eden Hazard and Juan Mata have both said that they see their ideal positions as being in behind the main striker. But in saying that, both can play out wide.
Marko Marin is the same, but he has stated that he would prefer to play on the wing but again can play inside. These three give us plenty of options.
Now consider we also have Ramires who can play anywhere across the three positions, Lucas Piazon who will without question feature at different stages of the season, Hulk who can play on the right hand side if we can ever sort out agreeing a realistic fee with Porto, and of course Oscar who also can play anywhere across the three positions - Chelsea could develop really sexy football!.
With being given the belief and the freedom to express themselves, to interchange positions and to finally deliver the kind of football Roman wants to see, Chelsea will be a force to reckoned with this term. They will be a nightmare to defend against and will cause anyone problems.
