Two in number but the Olympic athletes of Somalia have sourced a Facebook following of nearing 30,000 people, with support coming from more than 80 countries, including Peru to Turkey.

The really important development from the page is that The American Refugee Committee, who are managing the campaign, has developed a scheme to help the more than 2.5 million Somalis who are in dire need of humanitarian aid.

The scheme will see Somali telecom company Hormuud donate $50,000 once the page hits 50,000 new posts, shares and likes.
