Manchester City manager Roberto Manicini set for bumper pay rise
Roberto Mancini is set to be rewarded for leading Manchester City to Premier League glory with a bumper deal worth 5.5 Million a year.
City can win the title with victory over relegation threatened Queens Park Rangers at the Etihad on Sunday and the club hierarchy feel that Mancini is a major factor in the team’s Success.
The two million a year pay hike would see the Italian move above rivals Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger to become the Premier Leagues highest paid manager and sandwich him between, Anzhi Makhachkala’s Guus Hiddink and Paris Saint-Germain’s Carlo Ancelotti who, like City, are bankrolled by billionaires.
But Mancini would still be some way off Jose Morinho’s wages, said to be just short of nine million a year and considering he has recently recovered the league title from Catalonia for the first time in four years, that figure could be set to rise.
What’s certain is that Mancini is the man Sheikh Mansour wants to carry on driving the club forward and with the transfer window just around the corner, there may be even further additions to the wage bill with players such as Eden Hazard being strongly linked.
Mancini’s influence has seen his City side claw back an eight point gap between them and neighbours United to put them in pole position going into the final day of the season.
