Italy and Germany will meet in a major tournament for the first time since 2006 tomorrow as they aim to clinch a place in the European Championship Final against Spain.

The two teams meet in Warsaw’s National Stadium and the Germans start as firm favourites after winning all four of their matches at Euro 2012 so far while the Italians came through a penalty shoot-out against England to reach the last four.

And former Denmark and Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel firmly expects the Germans to land a place in the final in Kiev on Sunday.

“I said Germany before #EURO2012 started, no way am I changing my mind...!” - @PSchmeichel1

Germany head coach Joachim Low is expected to bring Mario Gomez, Thomas Muller and Lukas Podolski back into the side after all three sat out of the quarter-final success over Greece.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is also ready to play despite having a nagging ankle injury and the Bayern Munich midfielder should start the game in Warsaw.

Italy have injury worries with Giorgio Chiellini, Daniele De Rossi and Ignazio Abate all doubts for tomorrow’s semi-final while right-back Christian Maggio is ruled out through suspension.

And after all of that, Italy will have to overcome a German side that have just set a new world record of winning 15 competitive games in row if they want to reach the showpiece final.

Fans all around the world are looking forward to the game and hope that they will be entertained a little more than they were during the first semi-final:

“After watching this (Spain vs Portugal) I am now looking forward to seeing flair and excitement in the Germany vs Italy game! #euro2012” - @leighelkins

“Really excited about tomorrow’s game against Germany! I think some people are just so sure Germany will win! Never underestimate Italy!” - @tastes_of_italy

A fantastic game is in store between two sides who have all the knowledge and experience of winning tournament matches, but who will make the final and get a shot at the reigning European and World champions?
