Broad left out of Third Test
With two washed out days in an English Test Match for the first time since 1964, many England Cricket fans will have spent those two days wandering if Steven Finn or Graham Onions will be brought in to replace the rested James Anderson.
However both now play as Stuart Broad is also left out by Andy Flower when announcing the starting elevens this morning.
The rumours circulating on twitter are that Broad is suffering with a slight cold, which could have made Andy Flower’s decision easier. Cricket author Richard Gibson (@richardgibson74) tweeting: “England revert to original plan to leave out Stuart Broad at Edgbaston. Think the XI might have changed a few times since Thursday morning.” Which indeed it may have due to this apparent cold.
Broad has also been subject to some ridicule over twitter already because of his illness. Alternative cricket being at the forefront tweeting: “Stuart Broad misses a Test match because of a 'cold'. I'll just leave it at that... #ENGvsWI.”
Many re-tweets are building up already from sceptical fans either at the ground or tuning in on Sky about not seeing England’s two main pace men in Broad and Anderson steaming in at Edgebaston.
The same account also added: “Great to see Graham Onions and Steven Finn get a game, both would walk into most other sides in the world. #ENGvsWI.”
Things might have been so different for the pair of them if this wasn’t such a golden age for English pace bowling. Onions has a style that skids onto the bat and bowls a controlled out-swinger to the right hander. Complimented by Finns hostility and bounce as he hits the pitch hard.
Englands Batsmen will also have to adapt as the West Indies Make their changes, mysetery spinner Sunil Narine comes in from and impressive IPL having only played six first class games. However he has already received backing from former England Wicket Keeper Paul Nixon ( @Paulnico199) Stating: “class act will take 100's test wickets !!!” Having played against him in the Champions League T20 tournament where Narine was a star figure for trinidad
Either way with England winning the toss and bowling first, Andrew Strauss’ men have three days in which to take 20 wickets against the West Indies and will look to only bat once to take the Investec Test series 3-0 and head into the ODI Series on a high.
